Describe your work

I am a second year PhD student in the school of Geography, Politics and Sociology at Newcastle University. My research is interested in the everyday experiences of migrant women in Singapore and how migration impacts on women's experiences relating to their bodies. I was previously president of Newcastle University's Feminist Society and am committed to several feminist activism.

What  inspires you about this project

Knowing that when we work together we can make a difference. IWNE started out as an idea, we knew that something needed to be done- we needed a way to celebrate the women of this region. From this idea, IWNE- with the help of many fantastic women- has evolved into an exciting project which will hopefully inspire women of the North East. By working and learning from each other this project has taught me that we can make a difference, we can change the way women are viewed and we don't need to do it alone.
